Well-being support 🌼

Let's face it, coming to terms with the realisation that you are autistic can be hard. There may be times when you feel overwhelmed, inadequate or like you are in a world where you don't belong. You do belong. To me, autism is a difference rather than a disability and should be celebrated. I really enjoy the simple self-care tips listed in this post from Tiny Buddha and Life in an Autism World's content on Instagram.

Thriving Autistic is a community of neurodivergent practitioners providing psychological support to people in the community. The practitioners on their site consist of psychologists, coaches and therapists from around the world. Most offer a free consultation with the option to sign up for regular fee-paying sessions.

Embrace Autism's pages on autistic superpowers are amazing! Did you know that autistic people have abilities beyond the range experienced by neurotypicals? I didn't! Based on scientific research, they list a whole bunch of really intriguing strengths that you may experience as an autistic person. Very refreshing and empowering stuff.

Hendrickx Associates are UK-based specialists in Autism Spectrum Conditions (Asperger Syndrome), dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, equality and diversity, and more. They offer coaching, mentoring and counselling from practitioners who have both personal and professional autism experience. Sarah Hendrickx has also spoken at many conferences about autism - check her out on YouTube!

Let's be clear, autism is not a mental health condition and not all autistic people have co-occurring mental health conditions. However, the research suggests that a correlation does exist. The National Autistic Society's pages on mental health offer support on a wide range of topics including anxiety, autistic burnout, depression, where to seek help and much more.
