Supporting autistic women
Relationship support 💜
Relationships of any kind can be tough from time to time. Navigating relationships as an autistic person adds an additional layer of complexity into the mix! Some inherent parts of being autistic are directly conflicting with many key aspects of neurotypical relationship building. But, do not despair, help is out there to connect with like-minded people and provide support in cultivating fulfilling relationships.
Hiki, meaning “able” in Hawaiian, is a friendship and dating mobile app for the autistic community. It is a space where neurodiversity is embraced and being atypical is celebrated. You create a profile, match and chat with other neurodivergent people as well as interact on a feed.
Taylor's channel is a real game-changer in providing advice and guidance in regard to romantic relationships, friendships and parenting on the autistic spectrum. She is super relatable and her playlists on relationships and parenting are really validating and insightful.
Being one of the most well-known organisations in the autistic field, it is no surprise that the NAS have lots of great resources on autism and relationships. Their guides on making friends as an autistic adult, partners of autistic people and children of autistic parents are informative.
